Casa Bosques Bookshop is a collaborative effort between Rafael Prieto, director of Casa Bosques, and Jorge de la Garza, multidisciplinary artist. Rafael and Jorge share a passion for printed matter and identified a gap in the cultural scene of Mexico City; opening a space for the enjoyment and discussion of cutting-edge editorial projects in November of 2012.
Casa Bosques is the first bookshop focused on independent publishers in Mexico. Its catalogue covers a wide range of subjects, including art, architecture, design, fashion, photography, film, music and art criticism and theory. There is an important selection work that goes beyond conventional modes of distribution, precisely to offer what we consider most relevant from the international independent scene. In addition, we consolidate the best independent Mexican publishers; seeking to be plural and inclusive of the various scenes around art and design found in the city.
We have a profound interest in the potentialities created by the interchange between Mexican publications and their American, European and South American counterparts, and motivated by the benefits that access to this kind of publications creates in the context of Mexico.
Furthermore, Casa Bosques actively supports and promotes projects and collaborations between different actors in the local and international scene: publishers, artists, designers, academics, etc. ranging from book launches, to lectures and workshops; the ultimate goal of the bookshop being that of creating, sharing and multiplying cultural knowledge in the city.
