The archive was developed by artist Lauren Steinberg, a native of Los Angeles where basements are uncommon in homes, but a commonplace in movies. The book features stills from over 50 films, spanning genres of cult classics, horror, comedy, and drama. The Basement Archive also includes an introduction by Harry Gamboa Jr.
