The idea behind The Quarterlys Summer issue was to focus on familiar subjects through an unexpected lensto reveal intriguing new aspects of artists and artworks we thought we knew inside and out. We revel in Pablo Picassos emotionally fraught alter ego, the Minotaur. We probe Henri Matisses powerful and pervasive influence on Tom Wesselman. We revisit the sculptures of Alberto Giacometti through the eye of photographer Peter Lindbergh. We visit Giuseppe Penone in his studio in the midst of rethinking and reinventing the traditional artist monograph.
