How can one put music on exhibit in an art context? In order to address this question, artist Clara Meister and composers Ari Benjamin Meyers and Thomas Mayer started Soundfair in Berlin in 2008, an international exhibition project devoted to the concept of music. Over the next five years, they asked performing artists and musicians from around the world to develop new works at the interface of art, music, and performance that would abandon traditional notions of concert and exhibition. The publication Soundfair: Exhibiting Music is a documentation of the artistic works that came out of this period. Featuring contributions from Janet Cardiff, Annika Eriksson, Bo Christian Larsson, Arto Lindsay, Olaf Nicolai, Douglas Gordon and Anri Sala.
