The Microcosm in Memory” is the second book by Tokyo-based photographer Masaya Inoue following his self-published 「お呪い」in 2023. The photographs depict the unnatural of the natural, the spiritual realms of sci-fi: a Rohrschach of the physical world. Mirror images are laid out sequentially at both ends of the book meeting at the center Torii through lanes, portals, tunnels, and screens. An isolated plant in concrete becomes the animation on a monitor, statues transform into shadowy figures, and the end turns into the beginning: then we shall see the view of the world we were supposed to see.
