During a year of research at Fondation Vasarely, Aix-en-Provence, Oran Hoffmann meticulously organized and catalogued the originalmaterials that the visual artist Victor Vasarely had employed forhis large-scale works. He isolated the ceramic tiles, aluminiumpieces or paper sheets he discovered and photographed each ofthese elements separately. Hoffmann shows and draws us nearerto the source from which artistic work erupts, at the same time hisphotographic interventions both explore and interpret Vasarely’s work.A selection of these photographs is now available in book form, Vasarely Material Archives, published by RVB Books, Paris.
